On the comic: This wasn’t actually intended, but I’ve realized that Ina’i speech in this strip must have been very heavily inspired by watching too much Allo Allo. Different voice in my head, but doesn’t Rene start every episode in just about the same way?

Welcome to Muse’s Block!

Everyone gets a bit of a creativity block every once in awhile. There is always a time when you’re sitting there, trying to come up with an idea, but all you have is a blank sheet of paper in front of you, and an impenetrable fog in your brain.

This comic isn’t going to help you.

There are plenty of guides and sites out there with tips and tricks for defeating the dreaded block. I’ll probably talk about some of them from time to time. But this is a fantasy webcomic (well, part fantasy, anyway), and it’s here to entertain. So when you hit that creative block, take a step back and do something else for a bit. Like read a comic. Like mine. Who knows – maybe it’ll jump-start something.

For the time being, I’ll probably be focusing on the writer’s journey, and Ina’i will be a writer’s muse. I don’t know what direction she will take later on, so be prepared for twists and turns along the way!

I’ll be honest. I don’t have a real plan for the blog. I’m not certain just what I’m going to cover. I do know that I want to talk about the creative process. That’s a pretty broad topic, though, and could take any number of paths. And, in the meantime, life will throw things my way that I might want to mention. All I can promise is that I’ll try to keep things interesting, and hope you’ll agree. Even better, I hope you’ll get something out of my thoughts, even if it is just a laugh.

Also, please bear with the art in the comic. I’m doing this also to get over my own writer’s block and the drawing was pretty quick, but it’s my hope that I’ll become more efficient and the art will get better over time. Then we can all look back and say “I remember when her art was so crappy!” And then compare. Then again, better not.

In closing, this comic is dedicated to all you creative people out there, whether you write, draw, sing, act, or do anything else that requires a little voice in your head to feed you ideas. But I hope the rest of you will get a little kick out of it, too.
